The Lead Service Technician is our human link with the customer who has retained our plumbing & heating services. This is a vital link in terms of production, revenue, reputation and success. Anyone performing in this capacity must have exceptional technical trade knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively communicate with the client, technicians, and teammates.

Position reports directly to the Sales and Service Manager

Specific Job Requirements

• Must have very good people and leadership skills.
• Must have exceptional understanding and knowledge of all company policies as well as related procedures and systems.
• Possess superior communications and diplomacy skills necessary to successfully resolve any customer complaint or concern.
• Track and understand technician equipment by maintaining and reporting logs on a daily basis.
• Perform technician checks every morning.
• Perform vehicle checks every morning.
• Work with dispatch to ensure technicians are properly assigned and prepared.
• Create and maintain apprentice schedule.
• Create and maintain shift rotation and on-call schedule.
• Lead by example and set the bar for success.
• Assist in new hiring and onboarding process.
• Assist in technician training and review process.
• Lead sales & technical meetings as required.
• Carry out duties assigned by the Service Manager to assist in the operation of the Service Department.
• Supervise technicians, and provide guidance and leadership in daily activities.
• Abide by the company dress code, customer relations procedures, and other related systems and procedures.

Other Job Requirements

• Excellent communication skills required.
• Ability to read a map and have knowledge of City and surrounding areas.
• Must present a professional image by arriving on time, wearing clean company uniforms and floor savers at all times in a customer house.
• Technicians are expected to be neat, and well groomed.
• Ability to lead and grow our apprentices in to journeymen.
• Must be willing to continue training for personal growth.
• Must have clean driving record and valid drivers license.
• Must keep truck clean, stocked and accurately inventorized.
• Must be responsible for all tools issued to you.
• Analyze, diagnose and resolve customer problems in a courteous and professional manner.
• Attend advanced service training classes to upgrade technical capabilities.
• Help to ensure that assigned Service Technicians properly replenish truck stock
• Fill out all paper work in a neat, accurate complete and timely manner.
• Assist in coordinating the activities of assigned technicians and ensure that workmanship standards and customer relation standards are met.
• Check on selected jobs completed by service technicians to ensure quality and total satisfaction.
• Report job progress and problems to the Service Manager when necessary or when instructed.
• Assist the manager with production reports and check service invoices for accuracy,
• Train service technicians on how to maintain proper time, material and equipment records.
• Assist in the preparation, maintenance and formulation of department quality standards and guidelines
• Participate if directed in our company’s performance review system.

Location

• This is an field position. Daily duties are performed in and around the city of Edmonton. Paperwork and money collected is returned to the office located in 17633-114 Avenue Edmonton Alberta

Salary Range & Status

• Full-time, hourly position. Salary range depending on experience.
• Position requires additional hours “on call” rotation and when necessary to finish work in progress.
• Additional training hours are required when necessary outside of regular working schedule.
• Daily hours may vary from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm shift to a 10:00 am – 7:00 pm shift depending on scheduled work.
• Work includes working indoors and out, in inclement weather and temperature extremes.

Educational Requirements

• Registered Journeyman in good standing with Blue Book.

Drug/Alcohol Testing/ Security Clearance / Motor Vehicle Check

• Drug/alcohol testing done prior to employment and randomly during employment with no advanced knowledge. If position includes driving a company vehicle at any time, motor vehicle checks are also performed at random.
