The position of apprentice technician is an important one with our company. The apprentice technician is our human link with the customer who has retained our plumbing and heating services. This is a vital link in terms of revenue, reputation and success. Anyone performing in this capacity must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively communicate with the client as well as the office.

Specific Job Requirements

• Ability to assist and learn all plumbing or heating repairs and replacements to code
• Ability to assist and learn to solder and perform necessary plumbing or heating work associated with the plumbing or heating project the client requires
• Must be capable to assist and learn troubleshooting, diagnosing and explaining all problems and options to the client
• Must be capable of assisting and learning to complete a thorough and accurate plumbing and heating inspection and communicating findings to the client
• Ability to complete paperwork legibly and in an understandable manner
• Ability to assist and learn calculations necessary for plumbing and heating work as well as calculations necessary for invoicing purposes
• Must be comfortable asking for payment and collecting money
• Must comply with all safety standards and processes
• Must be able to climb ladders and work in close spaces and on roof tops
• Must know and adhere to all plumbing and heating codes while learning.
• Ability to communicate the benefits of club memberships to the client
• Must meet all performance metrics such as callback ratio, average ticket, productivity, club membership conversion, accurate Straightforward Pricing calculations, etc.
• Must follow all policies and procedures at all times.
• Must assist and learn to explain all options available to the client and have them approve and sign off on all work before you begin any service.
• Must assist and learn to explain all work performed to the client when finished and ensure they are 100% satisfied with the work you and your journeyman performed before you leave the home.

Other Job Requirements

• Ability to read a map and have knowledge of City and surrounding areas
• Must present a professional image by arriving on time, wearing Clean company uniforms at all times even on renovations (You may wear approved coveralls once the job has been quoted and you are beginning work) , Floor savers must be worn at all times in a customer house. Technicians are expected to be neat, and well groomed. (Clean shaven or if you have facial hair it must be kept neat and trimmed at all times.) Ball Caps can be worn as long as it is an Always Plumbing & Heating Cap.
• Must have a clean driving record and valid driver’s license
• Must have the ability to communicate with all clients and team members and in particular, have the ability to work with women
• Ability to learn and grow into a journeymen technician by following our training matrix and attending school.
• Must respect and protect client’s home by wearing floor savers
• Must keep truck clean, stocked and accurately inventoried
• Must be responsible for all tools issued to you.
• Must be willing to continue training for personal growth
• Be comfortable with Roleplaying with team members.

Location

• Field position. Daily duties will be performed in and around the city of Edmonton. Paperwork and money collected is returned to the office located at # 200- 17633-114 Avenue Edmonton

Salary Range & Status

• Full-time hourly position paid Biweekly on Fridays.
• Salary range is dependent on experience.
• Bonuses are paid monthly based on club membership sales, scoreboard standing and product sales.

Working Conditions

• Typically a 40-hour work week with overtime being paid after 8 hours daily.
• Position requires additional hours during “on-call” rotation and when necessary to finish work in progress
• Additional training hours are required when necessary outside of regular working schedule.
• Daily hours may vary from an 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. shift to a 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. shift depending on scheduled work.
• Must be available for on-call rotation
• Work includes working indoors and out, in inclement weather and temperature extremes.

Educational Requirements

• Registered apprentice or Journeyman in good standing with Blue book.

Drug/Alcohol Testing/ Security /Motor Vehicle Testing

• Performed prior to employment and at random times during employment with no advanced knowledge.
• If position includes access to a company vehicle, motor vehicle checks will also be performed.
• Security background check will also be performed prior to employment and may be required to be refreshed periodically.

Working Relationships

• Position reports directly to the Sales and Service manager
• Interaction and daily tasks assigned by your Journeyman, CCR’S and dispatchers. Job information and revenue reporting are to be reported directly to your journeyman or CCR’S and Dispatchers.
